Isthmus presents Madison’s Favorite Concert

It was a perfect day. Sunny yet cool. A nice breeze was blowing. And no rain in the forecast.

Setup began promptly at 11:00 am. To my surprise, what looked like a container with the parts of a stage was actually the stage itself, opening and unfolding into a giant platform that would support the bands. As the stage crew set up, people milled around, gawking and stopping to ask what was going on. Some smiled. Others looked a bit disgusted, as if they were inconvenienced by the stage’s placement. And by 2:00pm the stage, barricades, mics, speakers, and the sound system were all ready for a soundcheck from the night’s three bands.

As 5 o’clock rolled around DJ Nick Nice took to his stage and began to spin tracks to bring the crowd down to 100 State Street!

Next up was VO5, Madison’s favorite disco/funk family. Their set was better than ever and really got the crowd movin’ and groovin’! The next group was an unknown to me. Disq took the stage and blew the crowd away! This group of five, made up mostly of high school kids, played with heart and soul and delivered pure, raw music.

Last up was the headliner from Chicago, Twin Peaks. From the moment they took the stage until the final song, this raucous band of five lit a fire under the crowd so hot and bright that not even the beer they consumed during their set could put it out.

And thus ended a day at Madison’s Favorite Concert 2017!
