In a follow up to the WI Youth Strike for Climate Justice on March 15th 2019, the Youth Action Climate Team held a solidarity strike in the Wisconsin State Capitol’s rotunda. A dozen youth and community activists collected garbage from around the capitol grounds. In addition, activists occupied the rotunda floor for 11 minutes, representing the number of years the environment has until we reach a point of no return. With chants that echoed throughout the capitol building, the group marched through the corridors and hallways before conducting a sit-in outside the assembly, where they were monitored by capitol police, once receiving a stern warning against using a megaphone inside the room.
Later this month, on May 24th, there will be another Wisconsin Climate Strike in solidarity with a global youth climate strike.
